Give Away Freebie

Did you know that this is National Calendar Awareness Month? Yes I know, neither did I.
It seems that I should be the perfect Calendar Advocate then and here we are. You say you need a giant calendar for the refrigerator to keep up with all your kids activities, you need a calendar for your desk to remind you of all or your meetings, you have one on your iPhone so you're always armed with your super social schedule.

Perhaps....but do you have one on your dressing table to inspire your make-up and outfit?! Do you have one on the coffee table in your media room to remind you that there is more to life than watching how other people live their lives. Do you have one on your bedside table to make you smile about tomorrow's possibilities. Then, the Woodwings Calendar is just what you need!

For the Month of December I will be offering a free calendar each week to a randomly selected dear one that leaves a comment here on the Woodwings Blog.

The theme of this weeks comment is,
"If you could inspire your family to do one out of character thing
this holiday season what would it be?"

I wanted to mention that I am welcoming "Where Women Create" who has inspired the giving spirit among all the artisans out there via the Where Women Create Website.

So... see the cute little button to the right of this post that links to 2012 Calendar. This 12 card item will be shipped each week until the end of the month to one lucky person. Please leave a comment here and become a friend and follower or if you prefer you can like me on Facebook. You know that you can never have too many friends and I am so behind in the social media circle I could use all the support that you are willing to give.

Each week I'll start a new search for the comments winner, BUT at the end of the year I will combine all of the comments posted from December 2 until December 31 and select a winner of a one of a kind Jewelry item! So keep coming back for updates and write each week. I know you have wonderful stories to tell! xoxo Elizabeth

  1. My daughter, Emma, makes everyone sing karaoke Christmas songs every year. Everyone participates and has a great time...except my dad, he's too embarassed. I wish he would lighten up no one (except Emma and Jeff, my husband) can sing. That's it, life's too short to care about what everyone thinks...we all need to do something silly, keeps you honest.

  2. I would say the family needs to relax. Everyone get together and stay in your pj's. No need to dress up we know what u look like. :)

  3. I would want my family to volunteer at the local soup kitchen on Christmas! We've volunteered before, but never during the holidays and, since my kids are now young adults, I think it would be a great way to spend part of the day.
I'm following you on Facebook :) via Networked Blogs. I didn't see a link to a FB page & didn't find you with a search.

  6. I think I would encourage my Husband to ask for something he absolutely wanted for Christmas! I never know what to get him, and I don't work, so money is tight.....and the only answer he ever gives me is that he doesn't want or need anything.
It would be nice to have him excited about getting a gift...haha!

Thanks for this wondeful giveaway, Elizabeth!
    I'm a happy follower :)

  7. I would love to get them all together and just go somewhere for a weekend. We never do that with everyone's different work schedules.

  8. Lovely giveaway! Thank you!
I would love to inspire/challenge my family to buy ALL our Christmas gifts from those selling items to support a greater cause. We have a large family, and if all the gifts were purchased this way it could make a very large, collective impact.

  9. Thanks so much for the giveaway!
I would love to challenge my friends and family to hand-make all of their holiday cards. It may sound simple, but there is something that is lost when all cards are store-bought; putting time and love into making your own cards is something that I hope can be brought back in all families and all holidays (:

  10. I end up cooking with my mom during the holidays and my brother spends time with my dad, usually watching TV. Maybe it's the feminist in me, but I wish the guys in the family would get more involved in the kitchen. I think it would be a great way for us all to bond. And it's not as much work preparing a big meal when you have more hands to help!
Thank you for the giveaway :)

  12. Now that my children are grown (with children of their own), Santa has such a difficult time picking just the right gifts. Guess I would like my family to send those lists a little sooner (:

  13. I would encourage my family to make at least one gift. It doesn't have to be an extravagant craft, just something simple and heartfelt. Thank you so much offering such a lovely and generous giveaway. :)

  15. I would like to stay home this christmas, but I know it won't happen because my dad's already planning to take us to some place. But for the past few Christmases, we've been on vacation when all I really want to do is stay home and enjoy ourselves.

  18. I would like to have the whole family volunteer together. Now that I right this I think I'm going to actually set this up. One day volunteering might give some a different perspective and maybe be a little more greatful. Thanks for inspiring me and hopefully my family too!

  20. I would like to see my family have a wonderful and peaceful holiday season and being thankful for each other and those less fortunate instead of thinking just about presents this holiday!

  21. I've been thinking about asking my family to do something different this year for Christmas. I would like to have everyone take turns and use just a minute to share something meaningful that happened to them this year. I think it would be enriching to hear everyone's personal experience!

  22. My parents are very frugal and don't like to spend money on themselves. Even now that I am an adult and try to buy them things or take them out to dinner they complain it costs too much. I hope this year I can convince them to enjoy the nice Christmas they deserve!

  23. My family has always had an abundance of food and gifts at the holidays. My niece and nephew are the only grandchildren and are heaped with expensive gifts. My dream is that I could convince them to use the money for these gifts and give them to the homeless and poor instead.

  24. I would like my family to break out of box store gifts and give handmade. We did this once years ago and my husband and I try to continue. But people just like buying toys for children.

  25. I have 5 kids between 7 and 10, 2 of whom have special needs and all 5 of whom have ADHD. (So do I.) The novelty I'd most enjoy would be daily periods of *quiet*, maybe when everybody reads books or takes a nap (ha!). Thanks for hosting the swap! I love your artwork!

  26. I would like my parents (they're in their 70s) to get out of character and splurge on themselves...take a cruise, do some fine dining, etc. They pinched pennies all their lives for their children and deserve to live a little. gkuroda(at)hawaii.edu

My family has always made multiple dishes on Christmas morning and dropped them off at various shelters around town, this year we are going to actually make the dishes and volunteer at a shelter and I am so excited! It is a neat feeling to get to participate with those that are less fortunate.

  33. I wish I could convince my extended family to discontinue swapping Christmas gifts and make a charitable donation. Even in years past when we have all agreed there would be no gifts, there are always gifts and a ton of excuses. I would love it if we all just stopped the shopping and gave to charity instead!

  34. I would love to have my family work at a soup kitchen on Christmas day, to help enrich those poor souls who are sadly alone on Christmas. Every person, no matter who they are deserves a warm Christmas filled with love and joy.

  36. We make cookies and surprise the neighbors...some we know and others we have yet to really meet...We make them also for the trashmen and the newspaper ladies and the old folks home...and the lady at the grocery store...the one that smiles at you all the time...and the one that seems to never smile...We make a lot of cookies...this year...we have yet to start making them...but it's like a tradition of sorts...we also try and capture a live ferel cat with a live trap to get it spayed/neutered and keep it warm and feed and water it during the winter months...then in the spring we will release it to our closed barn and work on letting it lose in the countryside...but still know it can have food if it wants from the food bowl...This is our attempt to make it better for people and animals...and curb the overpopulation of domestic type animals.
    Thank you for this post.

  38. What I would like to see is our entire family take a cruise this winter. We talk and talk about it and it never happens. We have not had 100% attendance of all immediate family members in years due to work and other things and this is something that would give us a chance to reconnect as a complete family!!
